Meet Cara
My name is Cara and I am a psychotherapist licensed in New Jersey and New York. I provide individual, couples, and family therapy. My primary areas of focus include women’s health, relationships, anxiety and life transitions, family conflict, grief, cancer, chronic illness, and interpersonal issues.
I bring a unique value to my patients by combining the different modalities from my training to create a personalized treatment plan that meets your goals.
A bit more about my background
I graduated from Hamilton College with concentrations in anthropology and religious studies. I earned my masters from the NYU Silver School of Social Work and continued my postgraduate education in couples and family therapy at the Ackerman Institute for the Family. My additional postgraduate training and certifications include psychodynamic psychotherapy from Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Anxiety Disorders from Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Grief and Palliative Care from New York Presbyterian -- Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Previously, I worked for nearly a decade at New York Presbyterian Hospital - Weill Cornell Medical Center in inpatient and outpatient oncology, where I supported cancer patients and their loved ones during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. This experience helped me develop a passion for women’s health after spending years working with women facing breast and gynecological cancers.
